Our initial site survey indicated a number of flanges and vessels that required re-machining on site, most of which were of a standard configuration. The planned duration for the work was 4 weeks. Upon commencement of the project, it became clear to our client and Patriot that by far the majority of the work was far from standard. This did lead to an extension of the project, however the technical challenges we had to overcome included not just flange facing, but also milling and boring applications. Specialist tooling and tooling holders were produced specifically for the project in order to complete some of the applications within a tight timeline. Both on site and in house machining capabilities were utilised to complete this work.
Although the project did overrun due to unforeseen circumstances, our client was “very impressed” with Patriot’s ability to overcome, adapt and improvise to cater for what was a rapidly changing scope.
