Mechanical Pipe Connectors

Cold-work solutions for pipe repair, modification and line capping

When welding is impractical, introduces additional risk, or would extend a planned shutdown, STATS mechanical pipe connectors provide a safe and efficient alternative.

Available through Patriot International, these DNV type-approved connectors support pipe repairs, tie-ins, and the isolation of redundant pipework without introducing hot work into the installation scope.

The connector is installed over a prepared plain-end pipe and secured using a conventional bolted assembly. No dedicated activation equipment is required, helping simplify mobilisation and reduce the number of specialist resources needed on site.

Where mechanical connectors are applied

Versatile use across onshore and offshore assets

Mechanical connectors can be specified for planned maintenance, brownfield modifications, and time-sensitive repair scopes across a wide range of facilities, including:

  • Topside facilities
  • Terminals and processing plants
  • FPSO installations
  • Offshore and subsea pipework
  • Water, air, and hydrocarbon systems

Configurations are available for a broad range of pipe materials. The correct connector must be selected based on pipe dimensions, material, pressure class, operating temperature, and installation environment.

Titanium pipeline connections

A permanent cold-work alternative for titanium pipework

STATS mechanical connectors are available for titanium pipelines, providing a practical alternative where welded repairs or modifications may be difficult, costly or time-consuming.

The connectors use the same standard bolted installation and integrated verification port, allowing the completed connection to be tested before the pipework is returned to service.Selected configurations are DNV type approved for use on titanium pipelines.

Tailored solutions for different pipework requirements

1

Flanged connection adapter

Connects plain-end pipework to an existing flanged termination.
2

Straight coupling

Joins two sections of plain-end pipe without the need for welding.
3

End cap assembly

Provides a permanent or project-specific solution for capping redundant plain-end pipework.

Installation and integrity assurance

Simple installation with built-in verification capability

Only basic preparation of the host pipe is typically required before the connector is positioned and bolted into place.

Once installed, the connection can be verified using the integrated seal verification port. This allows the annular space between seals to be pressure-tested before the pipework is returned to service.

Where ongoing assurance is required, the verification port can also support a double block-and-bleed arrangement as part of a maintenance or inspection programme.

Key project advantages

Reducing risk, time and operational complexity

  • Eliminates the need for hot work during installation

  • Reduces personnel, equipment, and control requirements associated with welding

  • Shortens execution time for repair and modification scopes

  • Uses standard bolting rather than dedicated activation systems

  • Maintains full internal bore without swaging the host pipe

  • Enables pre-commissioning verification of the installed connection

  • Supports repair, tie-in, and capping applications through multiple configurations
