STATS Flange Weld Testers
Localise the pressure testing of new flange welds while reducing test volume, system downtime and the need to pressurise or flood the wider pipework system.
Localised flange-weld pressure testing
STATS Flanged Weld Test Tools provide a safe and efficient method of locally pressure-testing new flange welds and welded components.
By isolating the test area around the new weld, the tool minimises the required test volume and avoids the need to pressurise, flood and subsequently de-water large sections of the piping system. This can significantly reduce the time, cost and operational disruption associated with maintenance and modification work.
The tools use a robust single-seal-and-flange configuration and are available in sizes compatible with common pipe schedules and flange types. Their compact arrangement also makes them suitable for applications where space is limited or where an internal weld test tool cannot be used.
Key benefits
- Reduces system downtime by limiting testing to the new weld or welded component
- Minimises pressure-test volume, helping improve worksite safety
- Avoids flooding and de-watering the wider piping system
- Removes the need for full-system pressurisation
- Simple installation and straightforward operation
- Can be installed and activated in a matter of minutes
- Suitable for most liquid or gas test media
- Available for rental with the required ancillary equipment
Reliable sealing in demanding pipework
Large-section, high-quality elastomer seals provide a reliable, leak-tight seal, including in pitted or corroded pipework.
Generous radial clearance helps the tool accommodate common internal irregularities such as weld beads and pipe ovality. The pressure-assisted sealing arrangement provides effective radial expansion while allowing the seals to relax after use, supporting reliable performance over repeated operating cycles.
The robust construction is designed for demanding industrial environments, and the tools can be installed in horizontal, vertical or inclined piping systems.
Applications
Flanged Weld Test Tools can be used to test:
- New flange welds
- Flanges welded directly to pipework
- Welded flange connections
- Butt welds between a flange and a welded fitting, such as an elbow or tee
- Maintenance and modification welds where full-system testing would be impractical
Technical specifications
- Standard size range: Common pipe sizes from ½ inch to 36 inches
- Larger sizes: Up to 48 inches available on request
- Pressure capability: Designed to meet test-pressure requirements up to ASME Class 2500, subject to the selected tool and application
- Test connections: Separate fill and vent ports
- Sealing: Pressure-assisted elastomer sealing
- Installation orientation: Horizontal, vertical or inclined pipework
- Test media: Suitable for most liquid and gas test media
Final tool selection and operating limits must be confirmed against the pipe dimensions, schedule, flange configuration, required test pressure and test medium.
