About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused In-Situ Machinist to carry out precision machining and repair work on site. This role involves working on large-scale equipment where components cannot be removed, requiring a high level of technical expertise, accuracy, and problem-solving ability.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-situ machining operations including line boring, flange facing, milling, drilling, and tapping
- Set up and operate portable machining equipment to tight tolerances
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work scopes
- Inspect and measure machined components using precision instruments
- Ensure all work complies with safety, quality, and site requirements
- Maintain and care for in-situ machining equipment and tooling
- Complete job reports, measurements, and documentation accurately
- Work independently or as part of a team during shutdowns and breakdowns
- Liaise with clients, engineers, and supervisors on site
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as an In-Situ Machinist or similar field machining role
- Strong knowledge of machining principles, tolerances, and materials
- Experience with portable machining equipment (line boring, flange facing, etc.)
- Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in industrial environments
- Strong problem-solving and attention to detail
- Good communication skills and a safety-first mindset
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including shutdowns
Qualifications (Required / Desirable)
- Trade qualification in Machining, Fitting & Turning, or equivalent
- Relevant safety tickets (e.g., confined space, working at heights, first aid)
- High-risk work licenses (forklift, EWP) – desirable
- Valid driver’s license
